Optical Fibres - The optical fibres are made up of several thousands of very long fibres of quartz or glass.Hence when the light enters the diamond from any face with an angle of incidence less than 24 degrees, the light comes out from it and the diamond appears to be sparking and bright. The critical value of the diamond is 23 degrees. The diamonds are cut and shaped in such a way that the critical angle for a light ray travelling from the diamond to the air is very small. The sparkling of the diamond is due to internal reflection that occurs at various faces of the diamond when light enters it.
